For Immediate Release : Monday 09 October 06
Source : Orange
What if doctors were able to see the severity of an accident before deciding whether they were more useful at the scene or the hospital? That's exactly what they can now do by utilising the latest Photo Messaging technology from Orange.

"A picture tells a thousand words and with this technology we are able to communicate so much more effectively."
Mike Bitcon, Firemaster at Fife Fire & Rescue Service

Fife Fire & Rescue Service has implemented Photo Messaging to:
  • send real-time pictures of casualties
  • enable consultants to assess the extent of injuries
  • help mobilise the appropriate medical teams both at the scene and the hospital

Improving patient care
The Photo Messaging initiative in Fife, Scotland is thought to be the first of its kind in Britain's emergency sector and is expected to critically enhance the way casualties are managed in the critical early stages of treatment following an accident.

In a sector where speed and reliability save lives, Orange are providing a robust and effective communication link between firefighters and consultants, and improving the management and productivity of staff.
